Increase of Working Gas Volume at Haidach and Marketing of the Additional Capacity for 20/21
Kassel, 24th February 2020. Due to a capacity adjustment at Haidach storage facility, the working gas volume and injection rate marketable by astora will increase as of 1st April 2020. astora will offer the additional capacities on 02.03.2020 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (CET) for the storage year 20/21 via PRISMA.
The capacities comprise a total working gas volume of about 900 GWh. They are divided into 20 bundles with a working gas volume of 45,100 MWh and a firm injection rate of 19 MWh/h. Bundles are supplemented with interruptible injection and withdrawal rates of 21 MWh/h and 40 MWh/h respectively. The working gas volume as well as the injection and withdrawal rates will be available from 17.03.2020, whereas the provision until 01.04.2020 is interruptible only.
For the assessment of interruption risk, the storage customer can make use of the capacity utilisation view on astora´s homepage. In addition to the fee offered at the storage auction, the storage customer is charged a variable fee of 0.35 €/MWh based on the injected quantity. The Haidach storage facility is connected to the market area Net Connect Germany (NCG) via the network operators Bayernets GmbH and Open Grid Europe GmbH.

astora GmbH & Co. KG, based in Kassel, is part of the GAZPROM Germania Group and one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe. The company maintains one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe at Rehden in Northern Germany, which has a working gas volume of about four billion cubic metres. In addition, the storage company also markets capacities in the second largest storage facility in Central Europe, located in Haidach, Austria. In order to secure natural gas supplies to Europe, the company is currently completing the Jemgum natural gas storage facility on the German-Dutch border, which is already operative.
