The natural gas storage Jemgum: cavern building progressing well

Technical works planned

Jemgum. At the site of the natural gas storage in Jemgum, which is operated by astora, works are scheduled to be carried out from 21 to 28 September and from 5 to 12 October to connect the caverns to the internal pipeline system. As part of these works, the pipeline installations inside the caverns will be removed.

“The technical works will be carried out pursuant to an authorisation granted “ astora´s project manager Arkadius Binia explains. „Yet, on 23 and 24 September, works might affect operating processes.“ All measures will be carried out on weekdays during normal working hours.

astora GmbH & Co. KG, based in Kassel, Germany, is one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe. The company maintains one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe at Rehden in Northern Germany, which has a working gas volume of more than four billion cubic metres. In addition, the storage company also holds capacities in the second largest storage facility in Central Europe, located in Haidach, Austria. In order to secure natural gas supplies to Europe, the company is currently developing the Jemgum natural gas storage facility on the German-Dutch border.
