astora allocates capacity in the Rehden storage facility for 2023/24

Kassel, 3 February 2023. The natural gas storage facility in Rehden plays a central role in the security of supply for Germany and Europe. With a working gas volume of 3.9 billion cubic metres, it is one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe. In order to secure the supply of natural gas to Europe, astora is allocating storage capacities in the Rehden facility for the storage year 2023/2024 via the PRISMA capacity platform.

The firm working gas volume totals around 10 TWh and is offered in 41 bundles of 249.6 GWh each. The associated firm injection capacity is 82,085 kWh/h and the firm withdrawal capacity 126,285 kWh/h.

To be able to meet the filling level requirements and to allow a complete withdrawal, the storage customer is entitled to withdraw the working gas until 01.06.2024. The interruptible working gas volume available to the storage customer for this purpose amounts to 10% of its firm working gas volume (24.96 GWh/bundle). The interruptible withdrawal capacity is 16,000 kWh/h/bundle. Depending on the storage utilisation, booking and use of additional interruptible withdrawal capacity is possible.

No variable fee is charged for the storage product. The respective current filling level requirements and storage curves shall be considered.

Bids can be submitted on 09.02.2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (CET). Companies that are not yet registered and interested in participating are asked to submit a request via PRISMA, taking into account the registration deadline. The information relevant for the storage product can be found on the homepage www.astora.de under Auction products.

astora GmbH, based in Kassel, is part of the SEFE Group and one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe. The company maintains one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe at Rehden in Northern Germany, which has a working gas volume of about four billion cubic metres. In addition, the storage company also markets its capacity in the second largest storage facility in Central Europe, located in Haidach, Austria. In order to secure natural gas supplies to Europe, astora also operates and markets 5/6 of the capacity in the Jemgum cavern storage facility on the German-Dutch border.
